These stresses are not significantly affected by the grain size distributions for all conditions except that the crack initiation stress for FWD grain set is actually lower for the 0.3 crack length condition. The FGRP results clearly show that the crack initiation stresses for the RGS and FWD grain sets are similar. In this study, the crack propagation behavior of a stabilized Low-alloy steels with forward (FWD) and reverse (RGS) grain sets was investigated. The numerical simulations for API 5L X52 steel with planar lamination were performed and the cracking pattern and mechanical behavior were compared with those of the test pipe commercialized.
